Sardinia: Emerald Coast to the South
4 days · 3 driving roads · 75 miles of them · best May–June, September
The island in four days on three coasts. Costa Smeralda from Olbia to Baja Sardinia, the SS125 Orientale Sarda from Dorgali to Tortolì, and the Costa del Sud from Chia to Teulada. Overnight in Cala Gonone or Dorgali, then Chia. Not Corsica — that trip already exists; this is the ferry to Olbia.
Getting there
⛴ Civitavecchia – Olbia — Grimaldi / Moby / GNV, about 7 h, daily. Check sailings.
Worth knowing: Book the Civitavecchia–Olbia ferry with the car, not as a foot passenger. Sardinian roads are faster than Corsica's but the SS125 has unguarded drops and goats. Costa Smeralda is money and 30 limits; the Orientale is the drive. Costa del Sud is short and windswept. August is a write-off. Fuel in Olbia, Dorgali and Cagliari approaches. Genoa–Porto Torres is the longer alternative sailing.
