Exmoor to Land's End
3 days · 3 driving roads · 99 miles of them · best May–September
The north coast of Devon and Cornwall in three days. Porlock to Lynmouth is the old A39 off the moor, then the Atlantic Highway runs the long way to Wadebridge, and the B3306 finishes it on the granite edge from St Ives to St Just. Book somewhere around Padstow or St Ives for the middle night; the distances look modest until you meet the caravans.
Worth knowing: Porlock Hill is 25% and still catches people in the wet. The A39 west of Barnstaple is a holiday trunk road in August — start early. The B3306 is single-track in places, shared with walkers and the 300 bus; no fuel between St Ives and St Just. Fill in Barnstaple, Wadebridge or Penzance.
