Before you go: Midnight sun in summer; aurora in winter
Granite walls straight out of the sea, red rorbu cabins, surf beaches above the Arctic Circle — the E10 through Lofoten to the full-stop village of Å is a drive from another planet.
Svolvær to Å on the E10: a hundred miles of Arctic scenic road, granite walls, rorbu, beaches, to the village that is a full stop. The drive time of about three hours is moving time; two or three days is how you actually do it. Hamnøybrua is the red-cabin photograph — a bridge and a pull-off, very busy. Anita's Sjømat is food. Circle K in Svolvær and Reine are fuel. Å is the end; walk it, do not treat the car park as a summit.
Midnight sun in summer, aurora in winter, weather in every season. Book beds. The road is an E-road, not a lane, but it is still slow behind motorhomes and people braking for rorbu. Shoulder season is the drive if you can take the light.
This is a destination, not a detour from Bodø. Pair with the ferry logistics you actually have; do not add Trollstigen to the same three days and call it a plan.
Fill in Reine. The last miles to Å are short and you will not want to hunt for pumps in a village that is a museum. Hamnøy and Reine are where the road becomes a car park. Walk the last metres. Unstad and Haukland are the surf-beach detours if you have the extra hour; they are not on the E10 itself. Winter driving here is a different skill (wind, dark, ice) and a different booking problem. Å is tiny; turn in the signed space and leave. E10 is still an E-road: lorries, tunnels, and people braking for a cabin. Fill in Svolvær and again in Reine; do not arrive in Å on fumes looking for a pump that is not there.

Where to stop on the Lofoten Scenic Route
- Circle K Svolvær fuel — Fill in Svolvær before the E10 west — stations thin out towards Å, with none at the end.
- Hamnøybrua viewpoint — The classic red-rorbu shot from the E10 bridge; park on the east side and walk a few metres.
- Anita's Sjømat food — Family seafood bar on Sakrisøy, on the E10 islets between Hamnøy and Reine; fish burgers and prawns.
- Circle K Reine fuel — Family-run Reine Handleri — last fuel before Å; the road ends at the village with no pumps.
- Å i Lofoten viewpoint — The E10 full stop: stockfish racks and the Norsk Fiskeværsmuseum at the end of the road.
