Ceaușescu's mad mountain highway over the Făgăraș range — the road Top Gear crowned 'the best road in the world'. Endless switchbacks to the Bâlea Lake bowl at 2,042 m, a kilometre-long summit tunnel, then the long descent past the Vidraru dam. Sister road to the quieter Transalpina.
