Central and eastern Switzerland, the passes the posters forget. Klausen from Altdorf to Linthal, Pragel from Muotathal to Glarus, Ibergeregg over to Oberiberg, then Appenzell to Schwägalp and the short climb from Vaduz to Malbun in Liechtenstein. Overnight in Altdorf or Linthal, then Appenzell. Overnight in Altdorf or Linthal, then Appenzell. Klausen is the old hillclimb; Pragel is the one with the weekend ban; Malbun is the short climb into Liechtenstein.

Worth knowing: Pragel has a weekend traffic ban on the Muotathal side in summer — check the canton before a Saturday. Klausen is the old hillclimb and fills with bikes. Ibergeregg is short and busy with locals. Malbun is in Liechtenstein; the Swiss vignette does not cover Austrian motorways if you detour, but this loop need not. Fuel in Altdorf, Glarus, Appenzell and Vaduz. Seasonal: Klausen and Pragel shut in winter.

Glarus side (Richisau–Klöntal) is closed to motor traffic on Saturdays and Sundays — weekend crossings are only possible from the Muotathal side up to the summit.
