Norway's easternmost drive runs along the Varangerfjord shore from Varangerbotn past Vadsø and Vardø, then down a narrow strip of tarmac through a lunar landscape of shattered rock to the abandoned fishing hamlet of Hamningberg. It feels like driving off the edge of Europe, with the Barents Sea for company the whole way.
